Hi, how are you? I hope so, today I bring you a Vedetina, but ... this time it's like a bikini!. As always, the sizes are in different colors and the size of the images corresponds to size 1 (42/44).
Remember to give 1.0 cm of "seam allowance" in the case of the reinforcement, as in the culotte mold, they should leave 0.5 cm at the top and bottom and 1.0 cm on the sides.
As you can see in the image, I did not separate the reinforcement from the front, but it is because I am already used to measuring it without cutting, you cut it to make it easier for you.
When cutting the fabric they will have:
1 Forward,
1 Rear,
2 Reinforcements
They can use cotton or lace fabric, in the case of reinforcement they must use cotton for the internal part. Now is the time to sew ...
Attach the front to the reinforcements, remembering that the measurements must match (for example, in size 1 the front measures 2.7 cm, so the reinforcement must measure the same at the time of sewing) and then the rear, is made from the same way as in the culotte.
That is, the rights (front and reinforcements) faced, once joined, face the rights of the front and the back, join one of the reinforcements and the other reinforcement will pass over it, leaving "enclosed" to the already cooked side. And you stay as seen in the image.
Elasticizing moment, this time we will do it differently, with all the sides joined, measure with the elastic (without stretching) the entire contour of the crotch. Once measured, they mark the elastic and cut it 6.0 cm less. Then, they measure half of the vedetina and half of the cut elastic, with a pin they join the two halves and one of the ends. At the time of sewing, with the foot of the machine, they "bite" the loose elastic and the free side of the vedetina. They begin to sew and stretch the two parts (elastic and fabric), in this way they will see how (if it is well measured) they have to reach the elastic throughout the crotch.
In this case I wrapped the elastic in the fabric, but if they use another type of elastic it is also fine, use the zigzag for elastic, as seen in the image.
For the "cord" use swimsuit fabric, because when stretching it does not hurt the skin and because; since I like sustainability, I had scraps and wanted to use them. They should cut it 22.0 cm long.
Wrap the end of the vedetina to the cord and sew it, as you can see in the image, I did it by hand, do not use the sewing machine, but if you want, use the straight stitch.
And voila, the bikini style vedetina is finished. I must clarify that I do not stretch the top of the vedetina, that is because (in my case) it was not necessary since when using it it fits me perfectly. Ideally, it should be stretched before the cord is attached. But I leave that to your discretion, I hope you liked it.
