No, I don't think reading aloud to a 16-year old is very age approriate, let alone welcomed on her part! lol. Huxley's Brave New World was waaay ahead of its time. Written in 1931 and then he revisited it in 1958 - in a non-fiction version. I actually think I should try to find and re-read it. As I recall, I read it either in my last year at school or at uni when I was fascinated with science fiction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_New_World

Granny was full of stories. I am sad that I didn't know her as an adult. She visited SA once when I was 6, and never again. Although I did get sporadic letters from her, including one in 1976 when the beech tree at Kew split because of the drought. She used to wear a beautiful pendant - a beech leaf that had been dipped in copper.

And both of us getting all choked up!

I'm getting softer as I age....lol
