Many people think they can't make money writing online. This isn't true, and I'm going to prove it by listing 10 ways you can earn an income from your typing fingers. ⌨️
Copywriting can be a great way to earn extra money and build your brand as a writer. You may already be familiar with this type of writing through receiving emails from companies or signing up for online newsletters, but you might not have realized that copywriters are also responsible for writing blog posts, social media posts and advertisements.
Copywriting is all about persuading people to take action—whether it’s by clicking on an ad or making a purchase through the company website. Copywriters understand how people think and feel at various stages in their decision-making process so they can craft persuasive messages that will resonate with them personally.
The good news is there isn’t one right way to write copy; there are many ways! Whether you prefer long-form content or short blurbs on social media, there are plenty of clients who need help creating engaging content every day and they're willing to pay writers like yourself handsomely for it! 😋
Ghostwriting is another great opportunity to make money, but it's not something you can do on your own. You'll need connections and experience in order to find high-paying clients. Or you can build a social media following to attract people who want to grow quickly on Twitter or Instagram. They can become your clients and you can help them grow their social media using your copywriting skill.
There are plenty of ways to get started as a ghostwriter. You can write for other people, companies, businesses and organizations at any level who will pay you for your expertise. If you're really good at writing about finance or sports or social media or marketing etc., then there's a good chance that someone from one of these fields will ask you to write an article for them or their magazine/paper/blog.
Content marketing is a practice that involves creating valuable content for your target audience. You can attract visitors from search engines. You need to give people compelling reasons to visit your site in the first place. Content marketing is so effective because it allows businesses to get their name out there without having to pay for advertising and promotion costs which are quite high. As long as you create high-quality content or write blog posts about topics relevant to your business's niche, then the traffic will come naturally.
For those who love to share things and promote products, affiliate marketing is a great way to make some extra cash. With affiliate marketing you're promoting products or services create by other people, that your audience may be interested in purchasing. When someone buys something from your link, you get paid a commission for it.
Commissions can range anywhere between 5-50% depending on the product and company. You can find out what the average commissions are by looking at their payout structure or selling price per sale. Some even pay monthly if you provide enough traffic!
The best part about affiliate marketing is that there's no upfront costs for setting up an online store of your own – all you need is a website/blog with unique content (and preferably some traffic). You can choose from thousands of products from different brands including Amazon, eBay, Etsy and more!
Create your own digital products like e-books, videos, and online courses. The major advantage is that you create them one time and get passive income from all the purchase in the future.
You can sell digital products on your blog, website or through a platform like Udemy or Skillshare or Gumroad for free.
Creating digital products is easy once you know how to do it. For example, if you have some expertise in a certain area then it's possible to create an e-book on that topic and sell it as an online course or even as an online membership site where members have access to exclusive content and downloads.
You can make money online by writing about your own product or service. You need to have something to sell, of course—a book, an e-book, or even a service. You can write a blog post about it, create an email series that teaches people how to use it, and then promote that content on social media and other platforms.
If you're more of a visual learner, try creating videos about your product/service (using tools like Animoto and Unfold App). You can sell directly from your website or via third party platforms like Amazon, Ebay, Etsy etc.
Freelancing is, hands down, one of the most flexible ways to make an income. If you love to write and have a lot of energy, you can definitely make money writing online.
Freelancers have the freedom to work for multiple clients at the same time or pick their own projects. They also get paid by an hourly rate or per article written – so they can decide how much time they want to put in each day and earn accordingly (i.e., if they don’t feel like working that day).
There are many different ways to do it, and I have covered most of them in this article. But first: why would you want to? Isn't there a lot of competition out there? Yes, but that doesn't mean you can't make money writing online. It just means that you have to be smart about how you do it and pick your niche carefully so that it's not too crowded with other writers who are also trying to make money by writing content for websites.
For example, when I was starting out in my career as an online freelancer, one of the first things I did was look up lists of industries that pay well for social media marketers. These were jobs where the company already had their own employees creating content & promotional offers on their social media, but they needed help from outside sources because those employees weren't doing what's needed or didn't have enough experience doing everything on their own.
Once I found these industries/niches where people needed lots of help creating ads and content (and didn't mind paying for it), then all I had left was finding ways within each niche itself how people could get paid. This could include companies hiring one another directly through contracts or using sites like Fiverr where people post what services they offer under different price points ($5 min.). Same thing can be applied with your writing skills.
So what are you waiting for ser? Go ahead and take over the world. xD
