I'm always a little apprehensive when a film boasts that such and such person produced a film because this is completely different than if someone directed or wrote it.

A long time ago, perhaps in Walt Disney's time, producers could be an emblem of quality. Today the only point of reference is the director, or perhaps the screenwriters.

For one thing, I hate it when they take foreign actors to another country and then try to pretend as though they can speak Japanese when they clearly can't.

Exactly. I don't understand why they don't use actors who speak both languages, if that's what they need. There are millions of actors killing each other for a role, aren't there any who speak both languages? Hell, Tarantino found one who spoke four languages for Inglourious Basterds, and several who could speak two or even five, even if he only used two in the movie. Japanese is more difficult, but I'm sure there are thousands of actors with the ability to speak Japanese and English.
