Stone forest 石林 🗿

✨ The Stone forest is a located near by Kunming China. Large rocks towering trees dominate landscape serving as a perfect natural maze.✨

Its a very unique place and I´m not sure how it came into being what it is today. Wikipedia says it used to be a shallow sea a couple of 100 million years ago. A geologist I asked suggested by the looks of the stones its very likely to be true. But a Chinese friend translating the tourist signs for me said it was lava coming up from the ground.👀

Whatever it was its impressive walking through these sharp edged gigantic rocks. Sometimes they resemble interesting shapes like a turtle. 🐢🐢🐢

In the beginning of the 20th century rebels hid in the Stone forest from Warlords, ruling China at the time, and left Chinese characters written on them. 🔨
