I love this sign, its near where I work and its rather appropriate given its on the side of a bar called 'pilgrim' and on a street filled with hostels.. and bars. Its a quote from a poem by Tolkien. I'm not a poetry person so i've never read the poem itself .. but its a great line!
I've never been inside the bar itself .. not while its been 'pilgrim'. Bars here change every few years.. theres a huge turnover rate. When I was in college that bar was called 'dr watt's library'. The walls were covered floor to ceiling in shelves of books, and if you needed to use the toilet .. well you had to guess which bookshelf you needed to move (yes the toilets were hidden behind false walls .. like the bat pole) in order to get to the correct toilet. It was fun to watch newcomers accidentally go into the ladies toilets and vice versa. Not sure you're allowed to intentionally confuse your clientele like that anymore lol!
