Another iconic place that we visited in Taiwan is Jiufen. It’s an old town with narrow cobblestone side-street, lots and lots of streetfoods, tea- houses and photo op areas.
We took another train to get there..
Saw this while on our way to the train station. This clearly shows that this place is really known as the mining hub during the Japanese era.
Tourists flock in the area to try different Taiwan streetfoods and teas. The alleys are filled with lighted lanterns and tea-houses.
We also tried some streetfoods along the way.
We tried to visit each shop as much as possible but there were really a lot of visitors the time we arrived.
A-Mei Tea House— the very inspiration behind the award winning movie Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki.
Since it’s also dinner time when we finally reached the very popular tea-house, we were not able to enter the place. However, this was me taking the opportunity to take my photo with A-Mei- Tea House as my backdrop 😁
Here we are smiling from ear to ear after having a blast that evening. Our feet may ache for a very very long walk, but we didn’t mind it at all. Just look at our souvenir purchases! It’s really worth a visit.
