William Southold, The Southold Report

I came across this quote today, and I have yet to suss out it’s source:

“In a Good and Honorable Society, one of durability, the young will look after the old, the rich will help the poor, the well will treat the unwell, the educated will teach the uneducated, law makers and law wielders will be of fair mind, all voices will have an equal chance to be heard, the inspired will peacefully stir up the uninspired, arms taken up will be laid back down, and everyone will be free to pursue the greatest level of fulfillment to which they are capable.”

I gotta admit, this sounds pretty good to me.

So my question is, at a time when the most used and abused term looks to be Socialism, as it seems destined to dominate the political discourse for who knows how long - does liking this quote make me a Socialist?

Just askin.

Oh, one more thing:
As I noted, when I left my interview the other day with lawyer Michael Giospani, Trump’s “ultimate fixer”, I was totally depressed. I had wanted to ask him if he has been requested to apply his IN-N-OUT expertise as a post conviction specialist in support of Paul Manafort or any other Trump loyalist who is now or may soon be looking at a lengthy jail term. After hearing what plans Mr. Giospani has for Trump, and his predictions of the future, I just couldn’t extend the interview any longer. My slumped-shouldered return to the office was noted by my colleagues. When I couldn’t bring myself to tell them what had transpired they sent me home.

Then this morning I saw a Trump tweet encouraging us to “HOLD THE DATE” - July 4th - for “A Salute To America” at the Lincoln Memorial with a major fireworks display, entertainment, and an address by “your favorite President, me.”

Good Lord. How will people react to this? My immediate thought was we are a divided nation, circling the toilet, and on this coming July 4th, arguably our proudest of all American holidays and one on which we have any number of reasons to come together, we will receive the final flush.

But that’s just me, in my depressed (bordering on catatonic) state. Thankfully, when my wife called renowned psychologist Dr. Joseph Eisenberg he was able to fit me in for an appointment tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.
