Hello Steemit!

Few days ago friend asked me to find him laptop for ~$600 so I have been searching few days for best one around that price. After looking on specs of around 300 different laptops I have finally found "the best one".

Note that prices in Croatia are maybe different then in your country.

The decision has fallen on Acer Aspire A515-51G-51C2.

Before review let's see what is comming in the box.

Design:

Actually I really like design of this laptop specially because it is really thin. I could really say that it couldn't be thinner because it is thin as USB 2.0 port. Even ethernet port couldn't fit in main size but we have little plastic on spring which make ethernet port useable. Rear side of screen is not much impresive but it is cool enough. I really like finish aroud touchpad and keyboard.

Specifications:

Processor:

It comes with dual core Intel i5-7200U (7th generation) processor which works on base frequency 2.50 GHz. It also has turbo boost to 3.10 GHz. Processor has Intel® HD Graphics 620 but this laptop also has external graphic. Usually laptops in this price range comes with i3 processors so having i5 in $600 laptop is the real thing.

RAM:

Laptop also has 4GB of RAM memory. 4GB are not something impressive but it is better to buy laptop with less RAM but better processor or graphic because you can always buy few GB of RAM and install it in 2 minutes of work because you don't need to disassembly laptop for access RAM.

HDD:

As you can see on picture above it comes with 1 TB hard drive. Maybe you will ask why I didn't choose laptop with an solid state drive. Every laptop in that price range which has solid state drive it only has 120 GB which is not enough for anyone who loves to watch films or people who loves to have all photos on their laptops. Drive is also easy accessible without need of disassembly laptop.

This are only two disadvantages about specifications of this laptop but you can always buy 256 GB SSD and fews GB of RAM for 150-200$.

Display and graphic:

Display is 15.6" full HD(1920 x 1080) LCD with LED background light.
Great thing about this laptop is GDDR5 2GB graphic. It has NVIDIA GeForce® MX150 which gave really nice results on 3D graphic benchmark.

OS:

Laptop came with Linux but I have installed Windows 10 on it

Connectivity:

It has Ethernet port, USB C-type, USB 3.0, SD card reader on left side and 2x USB 2.0 ports, power port and 3.5mm headphones jack on the right side.

Benchmark:

After installing Windows 10 and all drivers I have tried to make benchmark using PassMark 9 bechmark program.

Conclusion:

In the end of the story this is one really good laptop for its price. It was my pick because all non-changable parts are best in that price range (processor and graphic). You can always buy some RAM and/or SSD. Design is really thin and it looks amazing. I personally like when laptop has DVD reader but who does even use it anymore? Maybe it is better to have thiner and lighter laptop

Advantages:

  • Processor
  • Graphic
  • Design
  • USB C type
  • light weight 2.20 kg

Disadvantages:

  • RAM
  • Don't have SSD
  • Don't have DVD RW
