When I woke up this morning I saw there was a gift on my desk. I was really surprised. Our Polish cleaning lady gave it to me. Last week I asked her if she wanted to have my old computer. It was a 27" Imac and it was getting too slow for me. It was still working and we wanted to give it away. We know that Daria is working hard and she cannot afford a lot of things. So we wanted to ask her first if she could use the computer. She was very keen to have a new computer and took it to her home. It made us happy to see that she liked it and that we could give the old computer a new home.
So she returned the favor and gave us a surprise from Poland. The box is marshmallow covered in dark chocolate (Mmmmmmmmm ... chocolate is always good). She knows I love chocolate!
In the bag I found 2 bottles of Wodka from her country. The white one (Zubr贸wka Biala The Original Vodka) is a very popular one. It's a non-flavoured drink made from winter rye. It has a pure and soft taste. The other bottle is a Zubr贸wka Bison Grass Vodka. In every bottle there is a blade of grass (Hierochloe odorata). The grass is hand picked and comes from the Bialowieza forest where the Bison lives. The taste has a bit of citrus and herbs.
I did some research on the Wodka and from 1978 till 2010 is was banned in the US. Daria told me that in Poland people like to mix the Bison Grass with applejuice (tatanka). I never heard of that cocktail, but I promised her to give it a try and drink it as the locals do in her country.
We noticed that since the start of the pandemic people are easily agitated, grumpy and negative so this is the proof that there are still positive and gentle people! I didn't expect anything in return but I must admit this makes my day!
Cheers to the positive vibes around the world!
