Earlier this morning, I was going through the pages of the Bible and my eyes caught one word that got me thinking for a while. TITHE. Which is the one tenth of your income paid as a contribution to a religious organization. Malachi 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there might be meat in my house, and prove me now herewith says the Lord of Host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out blessings that there shall not be room enough to receive it"it goes further tho.
If you are a Christian, you will agree with me that it's a commandment most of us believers hate or disobey. Now don't see me as a saint cause I am totally not in obedience to it either.
In this hard times, paying tithes can be so challenging especially when the funds at hand isn't sufficient for demanding needs . Sometimes, most people give excuses like "Pastors are the ones embezzling the tithes we give" or "it's in the Old testament so it's not necessary". Blah blah blah
I believe what ever a pastor does with the tithe isn't my business, that's between him and God, mine is to obey his word.
A friend use to say the richest man's Wealth is incomparable to the tiniest gold in heaven, so God does not need our money, rather we need him to bless us more by obeying him
Benefits of Tithing
Those days while I was working, I had a rule that helped me tithe successfully. Which is not calculating my tithe with my pay. For instance, if your pay Is a hundred thousand, assume it's ninety. Removing your tithe from your pay and agree to yourself that your pay is what is left helps better, knowing that Paying a part of it isn't tithe, as partial obedience is disobedience so is a delayed obedience.
However, there may be times when things get a bit crazy and perhaps not responsive, remember there is time for every thing under the sun, probably it's time to sow, time to pray and have faith, but when things persists and you keeping Tithing and nothing seen to work still, there is this verse that says produce your cause, bring forth your strong reasons Isa 41:21. This is when we remind him(God) of his word.
God is interested in every single details of our lives including our finances. He tests us with little too see if we could be faithful with it . Just like some of us here delegate pob to winners of contest and expect to them to make good use of it by upvoting others in advancement of this community so also God expects us to do same.
After a long thought about this, I told myself it's time to stay more faithful in tithing because I definitely do want more blessings. You can do that to if you believe.
