As a Hive witness, how can I help the network and preferably have a small profit with it?

By that I mean. I have little clue about how the SPK works, but have interest on helping it if is something not that costly to keep or has the possibility to neutralize said costs with small profit(like a few pennies here and there for a smaller contributor).
