Putin compares Kursk today with Kursk from 1943. But he forgets a few facts:
- In 1943 Ukrainians and Russians were fighting on the same side.
- USSR has receiving a lot of Western support.
- The Nazis were busy with the Allies in Italy and would be soon busy in France too.
- USSR was fighting to death because Nazis had a known genocidal rhetoric towards Slavs. For them this was not a war they could choose to fight.
- The Nazis managed to invade all the way to a Leningrad-Moscow-Stalingrad line because local communities saw them as liberators(as nothing can be worse than Stalin). Resistance started once they became aware of Nazi intentions.
