On the physical body and who knows, on the emotional. Surely the former are a reflection of the latter.
I'm not a fan of tattoos, marks, or body piercings, and I don't have any, except for the mark from that childhood vaccination. The younger generation has taken to painting themselves, almost out of desperation, and here, with the arrival of good weather, people show off their bodies, and I've been able to see what look like socks, stockings, and sleeves painted on their skin in a wide variety of designs, some in full color.
In the past, it was frowned upon and associated with prisoners and vagrants. In some countries with military fraternities or among sailors, and naturally among some ethnic groups like the Maori, tattoos reflect their status in the community.
Perhaps this is the origin of tattoos among gang members, who mark their criminal exploits on their bodies and faces. And the reason it's not fully accepted in all societies.

En el cuerpo físico y quién sabe en el emocional. Seguramente las primeras reflejo de las segundas.
No soy aficionado a tatuajes, marcas o perforaciones corporales y no llevo ninguna, salvo la marca de aquella vacuna de la infancia. La generación más joven se ha aficionado a pintarse casi con desesperación y aquí que llego el buen tiempo, la gente muestra su cuerpo y he podido apreciar lo que me parecen calcetines o medias y mangas pintadas sobre la piel en muy diversos diseños y algunos a todo color.
En el pasado era muy mal visto y se asociaba con presidiarios y vagabundos, en algunos países con fraternidades militares o entre marinos y naturalmente entre algunas etnias como los maoríes, reflejan sus estatus en la comunidad.
Tal vez este sea el origen de los tatuajes entre pandilleros, que se marcan en cuerpo y rostro sus hazañas delictivas. Y el motivo para que no sea totalmente aceptado en todas las sociedades.
