Turning something into drama means escalating it into a dramatic level - like that of broadway musicals. It usually happens when people get their brains shut off due to being highly emotional. Somebody who doesn't allow their own judgement to get clouded by emotions won't ever willingly start or join drama, unless they are poking fun or eating popcorn while they are it. After drama has already started, it may be a little hard to tell who's being dramatic and who isn't. But at the end of the day, anyone who can think clearly will never feel bad because of someone else's drama.
I am a good example of this. Up until last year, I used to be dramatic, easily angered and frustrated. Fragile in general. No longer! Whoever wants to be dramatic towards me or generally disfigure what I have to say will simply get the door shut in their face until their mind is clear enough - even though that may take them years. As someone who has gone through being dramatic, I sympathize with those who eagerly generate drama, as they are in a bad place like the one I used to be in.
