The Fifth Mountain is a book by Paulo Coelho, set in the 9th century BC. The story is rich in details and features the prophet Elijah as the main character, but it is not a religious book. In fact, Elias was a man who faced many challenges during his life and the story is intended to lead us to better ourselves.
First of all, I want to clarify that I have not been an assiduous reader. In fact, the main issue that made me take the time to write about Paulo Coelho's The Fifth Mountain was especially the fact that it was the first book I managed to read until the end. Not that the other books were bad, the fact is that I have severe ADHD and have always had extreme difficulty starting and finishing a book. Today, after the diagnosis and treatment I have achieved some improvement.
The book has few pages, which also helped me. In addition, it has connections that take us to historical places, also making connections with other writings. I appreciate these details, where the author manages to connect his message to places, historical facts, dates, and other information without getting lost in the story.
Going to the point, the book in question mixes fiction with historical information, this aroused my curiosity and I believe that this book of few pages will be a great pass time for those who have the opportunity to read it.
Many associate the story told in the book as a reference to Paulo Coelho's own life, when during his youth he went through experiences of spiritual development, seeking answers to his doubts about life.
Perhaps at the time of reading I myself needed to make this journey, as these internal questions to which we have no answers arouse curiosity in many of us. These are broad questions about ourselves and what we expect from life.
The book shows Elijah's journey to Mount Sinai, where he experiences many experiences in the search for wisdom. It is a story that shows Elias' external and internal conflicts and we can say that in general the book addresses subjects such as beliefs, purpose in life, challenges, fears and spiritual development. Paulo Coelho makes clear the importance of seeking to understand his own internal conflicts and invites us to also do a self-analysis about life.
Note that I have merged the character Elias with the author Paulo Coelho, making this connection between the work and the life of the author himself. The story takes place in the cities near Jerusalem around 850 BC. and this is the background where the story unfolds, bringing a rich experience full of culture and symbolism.
Paulo Coelho's writing is engaging and leads us to reflect on our beliefs, the challenges and the meaning of life. As I don't want to say too much and I only intend to sharpen the interest of those who don't know the work, I separated some key points that I consider important and that managed to hold my attention from beginning to end:

I truly hope that everyone who hasn't had the pleasure of reading this little book can one day enjoy this journey that takes us inside ourselves.

O Monte Cinco é um romance de Paulo Coelho, ambientado no século IX a.C. A história é rica em detalhes e traz como personagem principal o profeta Elias, mas não se trata de um livro religioso. Na verdade, Elias foi um homem que enfrentou muitos desafios durante sua vida e a história tem a intensão de nos levar a um aperfeiçoamento de nós mesmos.
Antes de tudo, quero esclarecer que não tenho sido um leitor assíduo. Na verdade a questão principal que me fez reservar um tempo para escrever sobre o livro O Monte Cinco, de Paulo Coelho, foi especialmente o fato dele ter sido o primeiro livro que eu consegui ler até o final. Não que os outros livros tenham sido ruins, o fato é que tenho TDAH severo e sempre tive extrema dificuldade em iniciar e ir até o fim em um livro. Hoje, depois do diagnóstico e do tratamento tenho conseguido alguma melhora.
O livro tem poucas páginas, o que também me ajudou. Além disso conta com ligações que nos levam a lugares históricos, fazendo também conexão com outros escritos. Eu aprecio estes detalhes, onde o autor consegue conectar sua mensagem a lugares, a fatos históricos, datas, e outras informações sem perder-se na história.
Indo ao que interessa, o livro em questão mistura a ficção com informações históricas, isso despertou a minha curiosidade e acredito que este livro de poucas páginas será um ótimo passa tempo para aqueles que tiverem a oportunidade da leitura.
Muitos associam a história contada no livro como uma referência à vida do próprio Paulo Coelho, quando durante sua juventude o mesmo passa por experiências de desenvolvimento espiritual, buscando respostas para suas dúvidas em relação à vida.
Talvez no momento da leitura eu mesmo precisasse fazer essa viagem, pois esses questionamentos internos para os quais não temos respostas despertam a curiosidade em muitos de nós. São questionamentos amplos sobre nós mesmos e sobre o que esperamos da vida.
O livro mostra a jornada de Elias ao Monte Sinai, onde ele vivencia muitas experiências na busca pela sabedoria. Trata-se de uma história que mostra os conflitos externos e internos de Elias e podemos dizer que de forma geral o livro aborda assuntos como crenças, propósito de vida, desafios, medos e desenvolvimento espiritual. Paulo Coelho deixa claro a importância de buscar pela compreensão de seus próprios conflitos internos e nos convida a fazer também uma autoanálise sobre a vida.
Perceba que eu tenho mesclado o personagem Elias com o autor Paulo Coelho, fazendo esta ligação entre a obra e a vida do próprio autor. A história se passa nas cidades próximas a Jerusalém por volta de 850 a.C. e este é o plano de fundo onde a história se desenvolve, trazendo uma rica experiência cheia de cultura e simbolismo.
A escrita de Paulo Coelho é envolvente e nos leva a uma reflexão sobre nossas crenças, os desafios e o sentido da vida. Como não quero falar demais e tenho somente a intenção de aguçar o interesse daqueles que não conhecem a obra, separei alguns pontos chave que considero importantes e que conseguiram prender minha atenção do início ao fim:
- Uma história de persistência e de superação
- Aprendemos a acreditar em nosso potencial
- Reflexão sobre propósito de vida
- Desenvolvimento interno (autodescoberta)
- Conexão com conteúdo histórico e cultural
Espero verdadeiramente que todos que ainda não tiveram o prazer de ler este pequeno livro, possam um dia se deliciar com esta viagem que nos leva para dentro de nós mesmos.
