Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation

A. Wess Mitchell, the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, testified before a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on U.S. foreign policy in Europe. He covered a range of topics in responding to questions from senators, most of them focused on U.S. military interests in Europe and the NATO alliance. Mr. Mitchell also said the State Department had warned Turkey that its ability to purchase F-35 fighter jets would end if the country followed through on plans to purchase a missile defense system from Russia.
