Part of the problem with our tendency to stereotype is that it allows for only one impression to dominate multi-dimensional subjects.
We hear "L.A." and could think of any one of a number of possibilities. But given its current political and societal difficulties, it's more likely today that one of these will steer our current stereotype of L.A.
But don't be fooled. L.A. remains a really cool place. The vibe along Venice Beach (itself now often looked at negatively) exploded with creativity and expression.
From unbelievable skateboarders (some about 10 years old) to hustlers winning/losing fast money with a ball in cup game to a freestyle rapper earning some dollars. Special places like L.A. offer a heightened level of expression seemingly found only in large cities.
