A baby pacifier is an artificial device (usually silicone or rubber) in the form of a breast nipple that is attached to a milk bottle, or in the form of a pacifier, which functions to breastfeed or soothe the baby. Pacifiers are used to satisfy the sucking reflex, reduce fussiness, and help put babies to sleep, but their use carries the risk of causing nipple confusion.
