The popular saying "Time waits for no man" always feels like just ordinary made up words until the reality of its meaning hits you heavy in the face like a rock. It's just so surprising time has passed since January and a lot has happened for these pass 9 months. Sometimes I wish I can control the concept of time, make it stop, rewind and fast forward at just the flick of my rest but unfortunately nobody possesses that level of power. Looking back to how far we've gone this year, everything just seems like a blur and it feels just like yesterday we were all screaming happy new year and now we are almost at the end of the year with just three months to spare.

Nothing beats prepared for what lies ahead which was exactly what I had planned out for the year. I tried to arrange a few things into order just so I could go serve my country and plan for what lies ahead but you know how it is, life always has its own way of fighting back. I settled for getting a job at any field that pays well besides teaching because not ready to handle that level of stress at this stage. Got a job as a receptionist at a small hotel with a decent pay and have been trying to figure out the rest from there. For a girl that has been wired to expect everything, the year seemed to be missing that feeling that usually quite difficult to ignore but that don't mean it was quite uneventful.

As a Nigerian living within the country it is quite impossible to ignore what goes around here. There is not a single week that goes by without something bad happening somewhere, if is not kidnapping, terrorist attacks and other security related issues, then our leaders are playing with the future of the very people that they've sworn to protect. There have always been quite a number of positivity in my life as well that has me thinking about the level of goodwill I must have done in a past life to deserve all this rewards. But despite all this, a bad memory will always transcend the rest and I don't know when the effect it has on me will reduce.

About two months ago, a very close friend of mine died because of her genotype. Jennifer was the last child in a family of five and has suffered from the condition of possessing sickle Cell anemia since birth. She fell in love with a guy late last year and got pregnant for him sometime around February. The struggles she had to endure dealing with pregnancy and her genotype was heavy on her and sadly she passed away even before she was due. The most painful thing about this is that both her parents are graduates and could have easily avoided all this if they had both made smarter choices but this is the reality I have to live in now..

For what's left of this year I am going to try to put myself together, work through my pain and also heal from the taught that I'll never see Jennifer again... 2026 really dealt me a badly and my goal for what's left of it is just to be happy. I'll definitely be fine one day, I just have to take it one step at a time and who knows maybe with time I can see myself being okay again.
