Many times, we want to do good, but we end up doing the opposite. This struggle is not new. According to Bro. Eli Soriano, it’s not always our intention to do wrong, but it is the sin within us that causes it.
The Bible in Romans 7:19 says, “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” This shows how difficult it is to do what is right when sin still controls us.
To truly do good and follow God’s will, we must first remove the power of sin in our lives. This starts with repentance and baptism. Through baptism, we are cleansed and given a fresh start.
Without the help of the Holy Spirit, we will keep falling into sin, even when our hearts desire to do good. That is one of the main reason why we need to ask God to help us overcome sin and live a life that pleases Him.
Doing good is not just about trying harder. It is about being changed from within. When God’s Spirit lives in us, He helps us do what is right.
