Hi all.
I know a couple of you were interested in seeing more pictures of this Absolutely unbelievable place called the Alberta/Montana badlands.
So here we go.
This morning I went on a bit of a hike to see some petroglyphs. These were done by the Blackfoot and Dakota, possibly some by Plains Cree. They were thought to bring supernatural powers down from the Gods. (Or so we're told... Some peoples don't necessarily agree with the anthropologists...)
It's a nice place for a hike.
Do you see it?
And here.
You can see that this is the sacred place where 2 tribes would meet. The Blackfoot felt this place, was special. And I think I can see why, it's staggering to behold the landscape. It really is.
Here's another shot, it's really hard to see the image as so much weathering has happened in a thousand or so years.
Not to mention that they had to do this. 馃憞
Because a bunch of absolute assholes were vandalizing and carving onto these ancient ruins. These cages are all over, it's the archaeologists attempt to stop these walking toenail infections of human beings from smashing an ancient world heritage site. Frig people, I mean really! "Hey, I know the ancient ancestors carved these reliefs with deep cultural importance, but wouldn't it be the bees knees if it said '#yolo 2015' on it"
Sorry for the rant... Very few things upset me like erasing history and vandalizing and destroying archaeology.
Alright.. calmed down by fish and chips and a pint.
It's all good... But then the rage again! Like when those ISIS assholes smashed the only known statue of nebuchadnezzar!!! I mean what the actual fuck!!!
But they're in the middle East and crazy, the folks here in Alberta are supposed to be civil. So who are the assholes wrecking stuff? Probably Americans, lol ... 馃馃榿
Stay classy everyone.
