Sven reminded me that I hadn't done any camera rotation photographs in quite a while!
I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire and trees are everywhere. A short drive away and I'm the thick of it!
Alien forest
Getting all weird with this quick two way rotation with a backlight to pick out details on the dead tree.
Christmas Tree?
It's been pointed out to me recently that some of my images look a bit "Christmassy". I kind of see their point.
This is a four way camera rotation where the lens cap was replaced between each part to prevent unwanted light from hitting the sensor.
Rotating Major Oak
I reckon this has got to be the first and only time such a tree has ever been rotated in camera.
A quick two way, 180 degree rotation, Major Oak is famous for being the supposed hideout for Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest.
Not intentional
This is one of my favourite camera rotation images shot in the blue hour. Occasionally you can end up with the hint of a swastika in four way camera rotation images and I can assure everyone this is not intentional. I prefer to ignore the hint and look at the lighting and the details!
Subtle in the wind
I always prefer to freeze the action where possible but here it was windy and the long exposure provided a painterly quality:
Not quite the reflection as first it may seem
Sometimes the random layout of the tree line just doesn't align for the sake of accuracy. I just roll with it anyways...
Hot to the touch
I pointed a flashgun in the hollow of an old dead tree and fired the flash four times, one for each rotation. Another blue hour shot:
Experimental or mental?
Sometimes I like to experiment and this is a quick two way rotation which is a bit out of the ordinary. But then none of the images above are "ordinary" even if I say so myself!
