Proposal

The news feed on Busy (and steem in general) has become quite pointless as most of the posts, in particular the Hot and Trending sections, are just posts that have been upvoted significantly. This is obviously something that is difficult to contain and control, but there is a simply formula that I think can be very effective.

As I understand it, Busy.org is already working on a way to include view counts for posts, and I understand this to be unique views by logged in Steem users.

So my proposal is this: Create a new filter (ideally, a checkbox that can be applied to all of the existing filters), that can filter out any post that has more votes than it does views - to a certain tolerance.

For example, if a post has had 20 votes and only 5 views, then filter that post out, as it is more than likely that the only way this post has had 20 votes (and likely a high STU return, which may bring it into hot/trending) is by using bots and upvote services.

I would suggest that a tolerance be introduced, for example, if the vote count exceeds the view count by 20%, or something along those lines.

This would add signficant value to the feeds as it would be mostly limited to posts of organic value rather than those that have paid for promotion with 3rd party services.

This can be further enhanced in future, by using other methods to detect voting services (ie. bid bots that leave comments indicating upvotes, scanning the blockchain for upvote transfers, etc)

Increased utilisation of the News sections, cleaner feeds that can be more a more reliable source of good content, and not just a feed of people utilising upvotes.
