You know what day it is? That’s right, it’s #FungiFriday! It’s been a while since I was able to find some interesting models for @Ewkaw as well as all the members of this community. And by interesting, I mean edible 😂

Just kidding! For me all the fungi are interesting, but I haven’t tasted a proper Boletus Edulis in over a year and I really fancied some for quite a while.

I was already on my way home with a very light bag of mushrooms to eat for my supper today, when I looked to the left, where I never found any mushrooms before and…

I thought I’m tripping 😂

Is this even a mushroom? Or just a big stone? I thought to myself as I started walking towards it slowly.

Not sure what’s up with this slow walk when I see my next mushroom. Pretending I’m not as excited as a child in the sweets show when I see it 😂

No, I’m not tripping! It is a mushroom indeed.

Huge one!

Edible too!

I didn’t have a ruler or vernier to measure it, but I recon the diameter of its cap measured more than 30cm.

The hand of course to see the size of it - my hand is very small btw. Usually it’s a great shot to present my nails, but they’re short cut and dirty these days 😉

One more look from the side. Look at that fat leg on this guy 🤩 I really, really wanted to take him home. That would be more than 2 suppers - maybe even some mushroom sauce that would taste delicious on my daily buckwheat.

But I knew not to get too excited when I see Boletus of this size. It’s edible not only for humans. Many other creatures love them too. It’s quite a competition for these out there 😉

Like with others today, I sliced a piece of it out to see what I’m dealing with and as expected, many others started this delicious meal already. It would be quite a miracle to find untouched Boletus of this size.

Even the much youger ones I found earlier today were already partly eaten. I made sure to throw the slices away from where I initially foubd those mushrooms, hoping to spread the seeds around more places, so I can find more of them next year 😉

Well, never mind. Those I found until this point were enough for today’s supper and tomorrow’s breakfast anyway. Maybe I’ll come again on Sunday and walk in different areas than today.

What I can say though, is that I found many other mushrooms finally today. Enough to keep me posting for a few more weeks. Some quirky ones too that I really want show you guys, but I know that once the mushroom season is over I’ll be regretting sharing all I’ve got in one or two posts, then enduring a dry spells for months to come, so I’ll only share one more… Or a bunch of them in fact 😉

Until next time 💙
