Last weekend I was visiting my bestie up North, in Lincolnshire. While my perfect weekend consist of long chats with her, a few walks with dog(s), some writing time and some dancing to top it up, she always insist in dragging me to some nearby pretty villages, beaches or rivers. Always on the go, that girl ☺️

This time round I also had Tina and her dogs with me and I let them drag me out of the house for a (second) stroll around Woodhall Spa. It’s a posh little English village. Very pleasant to walk around I must say.

Our walk started at the Jubille Park & Gardens, which is also a campsite where many people come to spend their holidays.

According to this memorial, Jubilee grounds, cricket and adjoining field was laid out in 1935 for the Jubilee of King George V and given to the people of Woodhall Spa by Sir Archibald and Lady Weigall in 1947.

The gate to the gardens is already beautiful to look at, before even seeing the gardens. Cycling is not allowed though! Gotta take the time a walk around, enjoying the beauty around ☺️

Of course there is plenty to look at, but if you know me, you also know I jumped straight to the flowers.

In fact if you were to look in my camera album, the rose above is the first picture I took there. And this is the second 😉

No pictures of signs, names, buildings, but #Alwaysaflower is the reason to reach out for my phone camera. Those other pictures usually come long after I warm up capturing the real beauty of this Earth and once I realise that I might want to write about the whole experiencd one day.

And the experience was pleasant indeed. Definitely worth showing it to the Hive Universe. I mean, look at fhose straight lines and pretty structures to walk under.

Perfectly manicured piece of landscape for the enjoyment of people of Woodhall Spa.

The gardens are planted with British famous roses by David Austin. On the map below we can see the names of each rose that is planted here.

Roses by David Austin can be found in most British nurseries and various catalogues. Having a map with each name of the rose bush is perfect.

Let’s say I fell in love with the rose above. I can find it’s name on the map, go to a nursery and voila, I can have my perfect rose growing in mh garden in no time.

Although I’d mostly go for the yellow rose like this one below. A yellow rose is my eluding dream. I planted a yellow rose in my garden 2 times. 1st one stayed in her spot for couple years, blessing me with couple flowers each year and then died. 2nd one was yellow on the box and when it flowered it turned out to be pink 😂

No luck with yellow roses for me, but I sure I wouldn’t say ‘NO’ to this striking colour combination.

Less striking, but nice to break too much colour. Cause while I absolutely love bright, striking colours in my garden, I recently grew to appreciate the delicate or neutral colours, as the give nice contrast to the foremer.

If you’ve just fallen in love not with the rose, but with another human, there is a perfect place for you to sit and enjoy there company here. Hold hands, wisper to each others ear and such 😉

Clearly kids love this cute little structure too.

And if you’re tired with too much walking, why not take a seat on this pretty bench?

There were no takers at this time of the day and we also didn’t accept the welcoming shape of it. We’ve only really just started walking

A few more captures from the Jubilee Park:

Then we left towards the village, taking a walk through the woodlands, so the dogs could have a bit of run off the leads.

Surprise, surpsrise! I found some mushrooms 😁 Just a few puffballs though. Not enough for the whole post for #FungiFriday

Finally we reached the Woodhall Spa village centre.

Even police station is pretty in this posh village. And tiny too! Probably not much crime.

Not the only tiny thing in this village. We’ve also discovered the tiniest shoe shop 😂 More about the shops in another post though.

The covid times are not fogotten here. Some signs warning to keep the distance are still left on the pavements.

Girls of course wanted to get into every single shop. Tina was over the moon that pretty much all of them were dog friendly.

I had to give in and look into some of them too. This one below was especially pleasant with many beautiful things to decor your house. I took tons of pictures inside it for one of those Market Friday’s when I feel the urge to write again 😉

Of course, I had to capture some more flowers scaterred along the rows of shops.

We also walked past the post office.

With the traditional, English, red post box.

Before we knew it clouds came out of nowhere and we had to take shelter in the cryatals shop.

Not a bad placs to get stuck in, although very dangerous for the pocket for the crystal lovers like us 3.

None of us managed to leave this shop empty handed is all I’m going to say 😂

Taking a look the local property prices is of course a must! Although this time I only took pictures without checking the prices.

Roads were wet as we walked back to the Jubillee Park where our car was parked.

Rain didn’t scare everyone off as one could think. Some pensioners were back in the game even on the wet grass.

The park’s cafe was pretty desilated though.

Never mind, at least raindrops made for nice flower pictures to finish off this walk.

Enjoy!

Until next time 💙
