Weißgraues Flechtenbärchen ■ Hoary footman
Eilema caniola (Hübner, 1808)
Ein weißgrauer Flechtenbär ist im Oktober an mein Licht geflogen. Am Netzt meiner Lichtfalle, hatte ich kleine Eier im Netz entdeckt. Diese habe ich mit einem kleinen Döschen abgestreift und aufbewahrt. Als die ersten winzigen Räupchen schlüpften, haben sie direkt an Löwenzahn gefressen. So habe ich wenige durchgefüttert bis sie sich verpuppten. Nach einer Puppenruhe von 3 Wochen ist dann vor drei Tagen der nachfolgende kleine Falter geschlüpft. Jetzt war klar, wer die Eier an mein Netzt gelegt hatte.
A hoary footman flew to my light in October. At the net of my light trap, I had discovered small eggs in the net. I removed them with a small box and stored them. When the first tiny caterpillars hatched, they ate dandelions directly. So I fed a few of them until they pupated. After a doll rest of 3 weeks the following small moth hatched three days ago. Now it was clear who had laid the eggs on my net.

Bei der Raupe hatte ich schon eine Vermutung, war mir aber mit meiner Bestimmung nicht sicher. Diese werden mit ca. 20 mm auch nicht besonders groß. Ihre Zeichnung ist unauffällig, welches eine Bestimmung weiter erschwert hat. Die meisten Raupen habe ich nach wenigen Tagen in die Natur entlassen. Gezüchtet habe ich nur drei, aus denen bisher ein Falter geschlüpft ist.
I already had a hunch about the caterpillar, but was not sure of my destiny. They don't get very big with about 20 mm. The drawing is inconspicuous, which made a determination even more difficult. I released most of the caterpillars into nature after a few days. I have bred only three from which a moth has hatched so far.

Nach dem die Raupe das Fressen eingestellt hatte war ich mir nicht sicher ob sie in eine so genante Diapause geht und überwintert, oder sich doch noch in diesem Jahr verpuppt. Letztendlich haben sich alle drei Raupen für die Verpuppung entschieden. Ob aus den beiden anderen Puppen noch ein Falter schlüpft, wird sich in den kommenden Tagen zeigen.
After the caterpillar had stopped eating I wasn't sure if it would go into such a diapause and spend the winter, or if it would pupate this year. In the end all three caterpillars decided to pupate. Whether from the other two pupas still a moth hatches, will show up in the coming days.
