Es gibt wohl kaum eine bekanntere Meise als die Kohlmeise. Sie ist frech und sehr neugierig, wenn es um das Erkunden von Futterstellen geht. Da sie im Gesang sehr variabel ist, kann ich sie daran oft nicht eindeutig bestimmen. Das muss ich aber auch nicht, den sie ist noch überall sehr zahlreich vertreten und meistens kann ich sie sehen.
There is hardly a better known tit than the great tit. It is cheeky and very curious when it comes to exploring feeding grounds. Since it is very variable in its song, I often can't clearly identify it. But I don't have to, because she is still very numerous everywhere and mostly I can see her.
Wenn der Frost die Landschaft überzieht, plustert sich die Meisen auf. Luft zwischen dem Gefieder schützt die Meise vor der klirrenden Kälte. Manchmal kann man beobachten, wie sich die Meise nur mit einem Fuß festhält, den zweiten Fuß wärmt sie unter ihrem Gefieder.
When the frost covers the landscape, the tits puff up. Air between the plumage protects the tit from the freezing cold. Sometimes you can observe how the tit can hold on with only one foot, the second foot warms it under its plumage.
Mit aus Haferflocken und Erdnüssen locke ich die Meise an. Das Futter platziere ich unterhalb vom Ansitz. So fliegt die Meise meistens erst zu meinem vorbereiteten Ansitz, bevor sie an das Futter gelangen. Sie bekommt die Meise ihr Futter und ich gute Bilder 📸 Fotografieren ist weit mehr als nur auf den Auslöser zu drücken!
I use oatmeal and peanuts to attract the tit. I place the food below the seat. So the tit usually flies to my prepared seat before they get to the food. The tit gets its food and I get good pictures 📸 Taking pictures is much more than just pressing the shutter button!
Und dann, ist es endlich so weit, der Frühling zieht ins Land. Jetzt gibt es kein Halten mehr. Es wird gezwitschert, was das Zeug hält. Das Werben um einen Partner hat begonnen. Wenn das Weibchen seine Eier im Nest abgelegt hat und die Jungvögel geschlüpft sind, müssen diese pausenlos mit Futter versorgt werden. An eine Rast ist kaum zu denken. Die jungen Blätter bieten zahlreichen Raupen Futter. Das wissen die Meisen ganz genau, den ihre Nachkommen brauchen proteinreiche Nahrung um schnell zu wachsen.
_And then, finally, spring is coming. Now there's no stopping it. There's chirping going on. The courting has begun. Once the female has laid her eggs in the nest and the young birds have hatched, they must be fed continuously. Resting is hardly an option. The young leaves provide food for numerous caterpillars. The tits know this very well, because their offspring need protein-rich food to grow quickly.
