Hypena proboscidalis (Linnaeus, 1758)
Die Nessel-Schnabeleule ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Eulenfalter (Noctuidae). Der Falter wird von künstlichen Lichtquellen angezogen und fliegt schon in Dämmerung. In warmen Regionen kommt er in zwei Generationen vor und fliegt von Mai bis Oktober. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier an die große Brennnessel (Urtica dioica), von der sich die Raupe ernährt. Dieser Falter ist noch zahlreich vertreten und in seinem Bestand derzeit nicht gefährdet.
The snout is a moth from the family of Noctuidae. The moth is attracted to artificial light sources and flies at dusk. In warm regions it occurs in two generations and flies from May to October. The female lays her eggs on the large stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) from which the caterpillar feeds. This moth is still numerous and its population is currently not endangered.
