Cynips quercusfolii (Linnaeus, 1758)
In den vergangenen Tagen sind mir immer wieder große runde Kugeln auf Eichenlaub aufgefallen. Meine Gedanken waren gleich bei den Gallwespen. Meine Recherche bestätige meine Vermutung, dass es sich um eine Gallwespe handelt. Die Gallen kannte ich, aber dass sie farblich so schön sind, ist mir bisher noch nie aufgefallen. Ein Grund mehr, die Schönheit der Eichengalle in Bildern fest zu halten.
In the past days I have noticed again and again large round balls on oak leaves. My thoughts were with the gall wasps. My research confirms my assumption that it is a gall wasp. I knew the gall wasps, but I never noticed that they are so beautiful in colour before. One more reason to capture the beauty of oak bile in pictures.
Am Vergangenen Wochenende hat uns die Sonne nicht verwöhnt und ich war schon froh, dass ich auf meinen Touren nicht nass geworden bin. Es blieb mir nichts anderes übrig als das Beste aus der Situation zu machen. Im Wald ist das Wetter nicht ganz so entscheidend. Natürlich sind die herbstlichen Farben bei Sonnenschein besonders faszinierend bei Sonnenschein. Als Makrofotograf konzentriere ich mich aber im wesentlichen auf Details und Landschaftsbilder fotografiere ich nur nebenbei.
Last weekend the sun didn't spoil us and I was glad that I didn't get wet on my tours. I had no choice but to make the most of the situation. In the forest the weather is not so decisive. Of course the autumn colours are particularly fascinating in sunshine. But as a macro photographer I concentrate mainly on details. I only take landscape pictures on the side.
Die Eichengallwespe ist ein sehr interessantes Insekt. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier an die Blattunterseite von Eichen. Dort entwickelt sich das Ei zu einer Galle mit einem Durchmesser von ca. zwei Zentimeter. Im Zentrum wächst sich die Larve und ernährt sich vom Gallapfel bis in den Herbst.
The oak gall wasp is a very interesting insect. The female lays its eggs on the underside of oak leaves. There the egg develops into a gall with a diameter of about two centimetres. In the centre the larva grows and feeds on the gall apple until autumn.
Nach der Verpuppung schlüpft im neuen Jahr aus der Galle das fertige Insekt. Die Weibchen der ersten von zwei Generationen, legen ihre Eier an die Rinde und Knospen von Eichen. Dort entwickelt sich eine deutlich kleinere Galle, aus der dann wieder die so genannte größere Wintergeneration entsteht.
After the pupation, the finished insect hatches from the gall in the new year. The females of the first of two generations lay their eggs on the bark and buds of oak trees. There a clearly smaller gall develops, from which then again the so-called larger winter-generation develops.
An den vielen Pilzen im Wald komme ich nicht vorbei, ohne zu fotografieren. So entstand diese Aufnahme tief im Wald und ich hatte nicht bemerkt wie spät es eigentlich ist. Im Wald wird es sehr schnell dunkel, so dass ich auf dem Rückweg meine Taschenlampe nutzen musste. Für die nachfolgende Aufnahme der beiden Helmlinge habe ich dies aber gerne in Kauf genommen.
I can't get past the many mushrooms in the forest without taking pictures. So this photo was taken deep in the forest and I hadn't noticed how late it actually is. In the forest it gets dark very fast, so that I had to use my flashlight on the way back. For the following photo of the two Mycena I gladly accepted this.
