WISDOM BITES FOR LEADERS
Being a leader takes courage, discipline, and determination. While a great leader can bring great success, it also comes at the cost of being judged and overwhelmed. That is why leadership is a great task. No one want to listen to stories. As a leader you must know that all eyes are on you. You have no privacy nor any secret to keep again,because many are looking up to you and all what they want to see is, you giving out your best irrespective of the circumstances on ground. That is why leaders must thread softly. You must be conscious of those that you move with, because when the chips are down, you are on your own. Leaders must not be selective, try as much as possible to bring people near you.
Do you know that those that can make your work to be seen are the critics? The more they critisize you, the more cautious you are. Don't forget that your words really matters most in situations. The way you approach your subordinates really matters a lot. They are your team mates and not slaves. Always give room for them to speak out their minds. Don't deceive yourself, you are not the best. You are just opportuned to lead and coordinate the affairs of that place. You will be surprised that if you leave that place now, there are people that can perform better than you. Try as much as possible not to be predicted.
Don't be a power drunk type. You are not a leader if you can't produce your type in that place. Leaders groom their successors. You are not a good leader if your successor fails. Remember that someone groom you to be what you are today, groom those you can peacefully hand over to without stress. They are called 'men of valour'.Be open ,transparent, and be principled in doing things. You are a mirror and you must be conscious of that. Don't forget that you cannot please everyone, but make sure that you do your best to satisfy your conscience. Don't become weary in doing good, for at the proper time you will reap the harvest if you do not give up as a leader.
