What's up, everyone? I hope you all are well and doing something creative. I am here to start a new scratch course about android app development. We will start with basic designing and learn the common attributes that are used in XML designing.
What Should I Learn
- What is XML
- What is JAVA
- Create Empty Project
Assignment
- Theoretical knowledge about XML and JAVA.
- Create New Empty Project in JAVA
What is XML?
XML is Extensible Markup Language Like we use Markdown Styling to format our content in Hive, XML is used in Android Apps to design the different objects on the screen like buttons, switches, checkboxes, textboxes, etc. You can read more here.
What is JAVA
It is a high-level object-oriented programming language that is used to act as a contact with the XML code and also to implement any logic in the app or to automate the procedure. You can read more about it here.
A New Project
First, you need to install the android studio. I recommend watching this video for a successful installation. Link.
We are going to start a new Empty Activity project. It will give us an empty activity with a basic code in it and also generate a java file that is linked with the XML file.
I name the app HiveLearners. The package name is automatically set to com.example.hivelearners. Click on a finish to create this project to the save location folder. Make sure you select JAVA language.
Project open and Gradle build is started, Wait until it is complete. It required an internet connection. This screen looks like this. If you get any error while the Gradle build you can leave the log in the comment section. I will help you to get rid of that error.
Now open the activity_main.xml file. It is the design file of our main page. Go to this structure to get this file and double click to open it.
app>res>layout
Here you get the design of the main page and Hello World textview. This lecture is ending here tomorrow we will start the basic design on this page.
