Here is my first watercolor of the year. Cat and fence, what else could it be? Without an ugly rusty fence, it would just be plain, kitschy cuteness.
The truth is, I like to incorporate some worn, tattered and rusty things into my paintings.

Because nothing is perfect, and these things make you think, they create tension.
If everything were nice, sweet and cute, we would only see one half of the world, which is a false illusion. Then it would all become vulgar and sentimental.

Well, it's going to be an interesting project to paint the chicken-shitty rubber boots with a bouquet of roses in them! After all, a beautiful rose also grows from shit! 🌹💩

Painted with Sonnet watercolor on 300 gr A/4 Fabriano paper. Cat's hair and whiskers with white gel pen.
