EARLY SPRING

I saw a robin perched
on a snow covered branch
and remembered the fragility of early spring; that raindrops can swiftly turn to snowflakes
and blue sky days can still bite
with bitter north east winds
then cradle us the next day
as they melt all signs of winter away
I was reminded that each day is different; strung together by a common thread of uncertainty
and yet, the robin's feet adapt to the cold
its fiery breast remaining bold
