Utopian is a platform based on STEEM blockchain that rewards open source contributions with STEEM/SBD. The rewarded categories are development, graphics, bug hunting and many more.

Mascot concept

I was checking in the Utopian official discord channel and found that there was a preference for a cute character and it could be a good idea to resemble it with Github mascot, the Octocat. Even though I started with a very simple approach until I decided to stick to the 'cat' concept but combine it a robot.

The cat has an abstract shape to make it look more like a robot. And the face is a screen that can be 'programmed' to show anything:

His hand can appear and grab an object so it is related to any category of Utopian, for example: graphics. This mascot with certain objects or making an activity could be used for official posts that could be related to the community regarding that category. Or simply for fun and entertainment.

Benefits

This mascot is very friendly and cute and with those characteristics is easier to be loved by the community and get closer to everyone.

Having a screen as a face makes it funny and very usefull, it can turn into whatever we want, change the cat face to a letter or simbol, as shown in the left.

Also the screen resembles technology and adaptability. And those are characteristics that match with Utopian and Open source movement.

The flexibility of the screen face can be used to display a message in the avatar itself.

Proof of authorship

Here is the entire process of making this mascot, starting with utopian logo and very simple shapes until getting to the final robot-cat.
