Emoji is a Japanese term for the ideograms or characters used in electronic messages and websites. The term is a compound word that means the following: image + adapted to Spanish as "emoyi"
Emojis are used as emoticons mainly in text conversations through smartphones. Some of these characters are very specific to Japanese culture, such as images of geisha, Dōjō temples and food groups such as sushi and onigiri.
History.
The first emoji was created towards the end of the 1990s by Shigetaka Kurita, a member of the team working on the i-mode, the mobile internet platform of NTT DoCoMo, the mobile operator of NTT. The positive experience of having incorporated the symbol of the heart between the options of their Pocket Bell phones in 1995 led them to consider the possibility of expanding the offer and Kurita created a set of 176 characters of 12 × 12 pixels, based on existing symbols in Aspects of Japanese culture, such as manga and kanji, the Unicode Consortium brings out new emojis every so often.
