Neuroses are mental disorders of psychological origin in which the symptoms are the symbolic expression of a psychic conflict caused by the struggle between desire and defense.
Neurotics are aware of their state (which does not happen in psychosis) but their social contacts are difficult, they are aggressive with others (irony) or about themselves (suicide attempts) , present sleeping disorders (insomnia or hypersomnia) and sexuality (frigidity, systematic continence, etc.) seem exaggeratedly fatiguing (consequences of the unconscious efforts they make to fight against his sexual and aggressive impulses) and suffer from a lack of affective maturity.

They are known as follows:
- Obsessive neurosis, is expressed by a tendency to commit absurd or undesirable acts, and by the use of anti-malefic rites to avoid them. The obsessed, aware of his state, lives in a continuous means of not doing things in a precise way, which explains his meticulousness, his doubts and a constant anxious state. Its origin is in a regression and its symptoms are usually made by displacement.
- phobic neurosis: its central symptom is the phobia, which consists of focusing on a goal or a precise situation, a general state of anguish. It refers frankly to animals (spiders, mice, etc.) it is accompanied by sexual inhibitions and exaggerated defensive attitudes and are elaborated through the substitution of the true object of repressed impulses, on the other, symbolic.
- Hysterical neurosis: it is an expressive neurosis, its crises have a significance, they are the somatic and spectacular manifestation of unconscious conflicts, for example, the patient refuses to speak or walk without being mute or lame.
Of course, hysteria is a kind of unconscious language of affective conflicts that, by not being able to express themselves directly, become bodily symptoms.
As you have noticed, it is very easy to find the type of behavior of these people.
