Steemit is a platform governed by a faceless, mechanical blockchain called STEEM. It is devoid of emotion or intellect, but instead runs according to a strict set of guidelines input by it's creators. We can cry about unfairness, imbalanced equality or morale ethics, within the context of what we feel is right on a personal level. But the bottom line is this. The STEEM blockchain is the epitome of an anarchistic state led by the class-based community of which it is made up of. There is no central authority to turn to when something we perceive as wrong occurs. It is what it is and attributed to class and social standing. In effect, you don't like it? You know where the door is...
Since my time on here, I've seen countless people come and go. And, I have to admit, that would be mostly "go". Many of them because of the inherent rules of governance that oversee how the blockchain operates. Which essentially implies that if anyone wishes to stay here, there are some things you simply have to accept as fact. Such as the power of whales. Yes, they can decimate you at a whim, if they so desire. I've seen certain individuals in the past constantly prodding at some of these big fish, only to feel their wrath to its fullest extent. After some thought, they come back with tail tucked firmly between legs and offer a truce of surrender. Now, some may think this is abuse of power and totally wrong. And the answer may very well be "yes", however within the constructs of a blockchain (the "real" authority in all this), political rhetoric is seen as nothing more than a multitude of ones and zeros. A flag has been issued, removed some rewards. A comment has been made, record to chain. A transfer has taken place, record to chain. Just as we can't physically leap over the Empire State building, the same holds true here. This is a home truth I've run with for over three years now and so far, it's worked out pretty well.
Funnily enough, in some ways, that made me indirectly want to grow my account. To try and obtain at least a fraction of that same power. Not that I'd do anything untoward with it. Remember that this works both ways and power can also be used to wield many positives too. But yeah, my stance has always been head down and do my thing. If I come across trouble for whatever reason, I will attempt to deal with it rationally and respect anyone I'm communicating with, no matter their actions. As I say, if the blockchain allows users to conduct themselves in a certain manner in relation to stake, who am I to judge? N one forced me to stay here. I did so of my own free will. Again, that's how I see it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm only human and can get pissed off too, just like everybody else. It's how situations are handled that separate the "strong" from the "weak". In almost every case I mentioned earlier, the supposed victim would spout verbal abuse, continually goad the whale in question or simply not let the matter lie. No, that just doesn't work in this environment. Politics has no place here, expect for possibly when a new hardfork is being discussed with witnesses or other such similarities. For us simple users, it's a grindfest to get to the top. I mean, our own journey here on the STEEM blockchain is hard enough as it is, right? Expect nothing when it comes to other people's actions and you won't be setting up an unnecessary disappoint. Try to work stuff out instead of go on a rampage of aggression, especially if the user you are dealing with is much more powerful than yourself. And that advice goes for me as well. Accept what Steemit is and steer yourself into having as much fun as you possibly can. Yes, it actually can be achieved if you want it, and make it, to be.
