Yes, I whole-heartedly agree with you. For the record, I also think most of the "bid botted" trending content at this point could be considered garbage. However, would you prefer the "same" popular authors constantly trending time and time again whilst every else to left collecting scraps? That was the way things used to be back when I joined. And that will be implemented whilst effectively neutering author votes.

Would those same authors be unanimously the "best" content creators on the platform? How can anyone guarantee under the new system that the best hidden gems will organically rise to the top as well? I see it as a case of which is the lesser of two evils using both models. I'm aware that our current system isn't perfect for the Steemit platform but it's easy to understand, still has way more community traction compared to the 2016 and is "business-ready" straight outta the box.

As I mentioned, bottom line is you can work out exactly how much your upvote is worth.
