Previously, we talked about Essentia, a modular decentralized framework, it’s features and the competition it faces. In this article, we will introduce real life use cases to give you a more of an idea of Essentia’s practical work application. We will also talk about the community of Essentia dubbed in a ‘Hype’ section covering social media platforms and it’s userbase numbers.
If you didn’t know, Essentia provides a “decentralized desktop/server” experience to the users/machines and allows them from a single place of a trustable, secure and private environment where they can interact with the multitude of existing traditional as well as new innovative decentralized services and resources. Multiple decentralized digital IDs and their sub-IDs can be used and managed by a single Seed. The IDs can be anonymous, or related with real-world data, according to however the user wants to do with them.
Use Cases
Door locking systems
A smart-door lock system of a decentralized renting company can be easily interfaced with Ethereum, or any other blockchain, with the addition of an ESS-Egg properly configured for the scope, which is a native dedicate hardware for Essentia OS. The ESS-Eggs can also connect with the real-world through sensors and peripherals. The user, with an ESS-Keyware or dealing with an ESS-ID enabled system, can not only operate door locks and car locks, they can also access, use or pay for third-party services and resources such as; car-sharing, energy-sharing, Wi-Fi sharing. Users can be integrated with the Essentia Platform, or just a part of it where they can allow ESS-ID users to directly access their services. The user can be selectively authorized by the smart-contracts that manage the locks to allow access to the rented resources and to use them. On the completion of the contract, if no issues have occurred, the user’s data are not revealed to any party
Anonymous Flight ticket purchases
A user can book a flight without giving their personal data to the travel agent or website by being the assignee of just an anonymous ticket. The user data, sent is encrypted before going to the travel agent or flight ticket service, and can be only decrypted and read by the relevant authorities. The user’s data can eventually be accessed by the authorities with an alert, depending on the local regulations. With user privacy fully respected, flight ticket purchases through Essentia can go into a whole new level.
Vehicle rental firms
A company can remotely manage the access and the use of its assets, such as cars, by employees. The manager can enforce limits and rules based on context or he can assign the assets while controlling their authorizations, enabled-times, and so on. This can prevent employees from using the car adversely benefiting the firm.
ICOs
ICOs are exponentially growing in numbers and donation sizes. Providing valuable KYC information to ICOs can be risky but Essentia provides a solution where users can use eLogin to seamlessly login to websites and dApps, without the use of insecure passwords. KYC compliance services can seamlessly accept new clients and securely store their data, decentralized. This will prevent data being stolen if the website is hacked.
Data protection for firms
Speaking of data being stolen, GDPR comes into effect on May 25, 2018. With charges of a % of revenue of the firm, it is imperative firms adopt data protection strategies to prevent losses. Companies in need of GDPR compliance solutions can use Essentia. Users can request the removal of their data, an action which is publicly verifiable using proof of a ongoing transaction. The user is able to sign, verify, decrypt, encrypt with a timestamp, a document (or any other data) and the user will be able to manage its authorizations such as who can access/read/use them and when.
