Small business isn't for the faint of heart. It is for the brave, the patient, and the persistent. It's for the overcomer - unknown
Yesterday I attended the Puregold’s Tindahan Ni Aling Puring Negosyo Convention 2022 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. The event is the largest gathering of neighborhood small retail store operators and other business owners that is a member of the Puregold Tindahan ni Aling Puring program.
The Puregold Tindahan ni Aling Puring program made all its members happy by giving away big discounts, a lot of freebies, games where they can win prizes plus a stage show that can entertain their guests while doing their grocery. They even provide free transportation for their members.
And while I was there I also observed the attitude and characteristics of each business owner while they are waiting outside until they get in until they are doing their grocery. One of the things that I noticed is that ...
Most of them are patient.
Why do I say they are patient?
There are so many who attended the convention and each one waited for their turn to get in. And as per the security guards, there are people who are already there as early as 4 am just to be sure that they will be the first ones to get in and get the early bird prices as it means it can be additional items to their store. Imagine how patiently they wait for the time that they can go inside and the door opens at 9 am. And when you reach inside, there'll be another waiting when you buy at each booth. And it is not just a short period of standing and waiting. There are long lines that will make you stand for 30 minutes or more just to wait for your turn.
Here's how it looks inside the venue.
Persistent? Yes, they are.
They are not just patient but they are persistent too. They never give up unless they get all the items they need. They don't mind how long they stand there waiting in line, what's important to them is to get the items that they want at a much lower price.
Here are the sample promo packages.
Business owners really do everything to achieve the reason why they are there. There are even some who never leave the convention area as long as they are not done, even if they haven't eaten yet, even if they stayed there for more than 6 hours.
Another thing that I noticed is that they are brave. Brave not only in terms of going out and being in a big group. But they are brave enough to still continue with their business even if there are times that they already want to stop. How did I know it? I talked to a few business owners and asked them how their shops are doing and just like me, there are days that they already want to close their shops but still they keep on fighting knowing that tomorrow will be another story. Even if they are not sure if tomorrow will be a good day for their business or not.
So I guessed, that quote above is right after all. Small business is for the overcomer. Because no matter what failure they are faced with, no matter what struggle they are in, they make it a point to overcome whatever hindrance or struggle that comes along their way.
And oh before I forget, you might be wondering if the business owners left happy and satisfied? Here's how their cart looks when they leave the convention, some leave with lots of boxes.
And if you've come this far... I hope that I was able to entertain you and made you smile... and for that Thank you.
