Back in 1967, the film "Viy" was released in the USSR, which was based on the story of the immortal Nikolai Gogol. It can be considered that this is the first horror film that was shown in cinemas.
I decided to draw the main character of this film - "Pannochka." The image of a witch who turns from a vile old woman into a beautiful young girl and cannot find peace even after death is a real dark aesthetic.

The mystical atmosphere, the terrible and frightening unclean, the abandoned church, the dying witch in the coffin - all this creates a unique atmosphere that forgives the shortcomings of special effects.

You know how this story ends, but still fear gets under your skin. The film "Viy" showed how terrible Slavic mythology can be, which can become a dozen mystical films.
