Watching the GameFi / Play2Earn space has become exhausting with numerous projects vying for attention.

For one to stand out so much is very exciting…

The lovechild of Clash & Axie is Heroes of Mavia

What is immediately obvious is that everything is extremely well thought out.

This post is to give a quick overview and then hopefully dig in deeper in subsequent posts.

• The aim is to produce a AAA game
• Art style is Clash of Clans / Pixar combo
• Cross Platform: Desktop Web / Mobile Browsers / iOS & Android Apps
• Huge team already - massive amount of work required for such high ambitions
• Superb Token Model
• Use Ethereum (Arbitrum) L2 & BSC
• NFTs openly tradable in-game and outside the game (eg. OpenSea)
• Small number of top quality VCs

For me all those are ticks in boxes.

NFTs

Just 3 types of NFTs...

Token Model

As a blockchain game - the most important thing is the token model. Too many developers munge NFTs with a game and come up with a mess that either isn't fun or isn't sustainable.

The Heroes of Mavia token model is designed to encourage reinvestment into the game.
The game two game resources (GOLD & OIL) plus two tokens (RUBY & MAVIA)

RUBY - Used INSIDE the game to upgrade NFTs; purchase gold & oil; speedups; skins. Upgrading an NFT permanently adds value to it.
MAVIA - Used OUTSIDE the game buy and sell NFTs, rent bases, staking incentives.

• The model is designed to keep RUBY in the game and enhance the value/desirability of the player's NFTs, game experience, and earning potential.
• New players come into the game on the right-hand-side of the diagram by purchasing an NFT with MAVIA (or ETH on external platforms) which can then be used in the game, enhanced by playing the game & earning RUBY, spending that RUBY to improve the NFT, and eventually leaving the game on the right-hand-side by selling the NFT for MAVIA/ETH.
• Players are encouraged to spend the RUBY in-game - it can be withdrawn on the left-hand-side but are taxed 15%. RUBY entering the game on this side is welcomd back to teh game with a 10% bonus. This is a tactic used by casinos to keep chips in the house.

VCs

There are others but pleased to see some top VCs involved. Vesting periods are fairly long - Team 6 years, Pre-sale VCs 4 years. Future funding will be via land sales in MAVIA - generating demand for the MAVIA token.

Mavia Marketplace

This looks to be an excellent interface to inspect all game activities...

Uses a fimiliar 'etherscan' type interface - all battles can be viewed or replayed, all players activities inspected...

Summary

Heroes of Mavia looks a really exciting project and has done so much right already. Combining a super-popular game with a well-thought through token model and some great art. There's certainly loads of ambition. I will be following the project closely...
