Tricky little thing this one. When I was looking at it in the shop I thought it was a completely different type. Only when I got hope and started to google it and compare photos and info I found the name. It only proves how little I know of them. And how every little detail matters.	Cwany mały kudłacz. Gdy wypatrzyłam go w sklepie myślałam, że to kompletnie inny gatunek! Dopiero w domu przy szperaniu info o nim i porównywaniu zdjęć okazało się co to za jeden. I to tylko dowodzi jak mało wiem o kaktusach i że każdy detal się liczy.

This is a Brazilian cactus from Rio Grande do Sul region. The nights there can get very cold so no harm will be done for him here. He can handle up to -4 degrees of kept completely dry. Otherwise, the cold temperatures and moisture might rot it - like any other cactus in winter. In summer, when it grows and blooms it likes hot and sunny spot. Oh yes… I can give him that! It will be a real test how much it will handle on my oven-like balcony. Pochodzi on z Brazylii z regionu Rio Grande do Sul. Noce tam mogą być bardzo chłodne, więc krzywda mu się u mnie nie stanie. Wytrzymuje nawet i -4 stopnie Celsjusza jeśli podłoże jest zupełnie suche. W chłodzie i wilgoci kaktusy gniją niestety. Latem, kiedy rośnie i kwitnie powinien wytrzymać gorąco i słońce. Mój piekarnikowy balkon będzie dla niego testem.

My little fella is still small and at this stage they look like they will grow to a ball shape. But no, it will grow up, up to a meter tall. But it will also grow offshoots from the base and side, so it should look like a little bush with time. A lot of time! This baby is probably 2-3 years old. So it might start to bloom in about another 2-3 years. But it is cute so it’s ok. Very spiny, but they are soft and harmless. More like a stiff brush bristles. And now that I think of it, I have 3 or 4 more Notocatus types and they all have those spines soft. Cool :) No holes in fingers while repotting. Mój maluch jest jeszcze mały i wygląda jak kulka. Sądziłam, że taki kształt zostanie, będzie się tylko powiększał. Ale nie.. Będzie rósł w górę nawet do metra wysokości. Z czasem powinien puszczać boczne pędy i odnóżki, więc będzie wyglądał jak bardziej krzaczaste. Kiedyś… Tak sobie myślę, że mój maluch ma może 2-3 lata. Kwitnąć powinien zacząć w wieku około 5. Więc i tak trochę sobie poczekam. Ale uroczy jest więc mogę czekać. Ciernie ma bardzo giętkie i nie specjalnie kłujące. Bardziej jak sztywne włosie pędzla malarskiego. I teraz tak sobie przypomniałam, że moje pozostałe 3, czy 4 Notokaktusy też mają takie właśnie delikatne ciernie. Przynajmniej dziur w palcach nie będzie przy przesadzaniu.

Since I don't have any photos of the flowers , have a look at the one I found. Gorgeous, huge, yellow bloom that grow from the top of the plant. The flower can be 5 cm in diameter and the petal are delicate and silky. So pretty :)	Nie mam żadnych własnych zdjęć kwiatów, popatrzcie zatem na te znalezione. Przepiękne, wielkie, żółte kwiaty wyrastające z czubka rośliny. Mogą mieć nawet 5 cm średnicy, więc małe nie są, a płatki są ponoć delikatne jak jedwab. Piękności!
