Photos taken at our orchard in the early winter. Most fruits were already picked, but there is always some left. Some that we cannot reach, or simply are forgotten. Some very small apples are also on purpose left on the tree. Who likes to eat small apples, right?
But worry not. The birds and all kinds of insects will enjoy them over the winter months. The ones that fall to the grass will also feed snail and other creepy crawlies. They are all needed to keep the cycle.

There is on bush of those growing under walnut trees. We definitely do not pick those.
I guess it is there cause it's pretty.
The earlier mentioned apples, which still look pretty good.
When those are gone the birds will come closer to the houses hoping to find some food. During very harsh winter I used to put some of the picked apples for them too. Lots of blackbirds, starling and other that I don't know the name were coming to eat them.
One little red currant....
The rest is already turned to juice.
And I think those are way past due date :p Even for hungry birds.
Those were Elderberry fruits that nobody picked up.
