With June coming quickly bringing with it a prestigious inaugural tattoo convention I've begun preparing artwork for prints. This is the first of (hopefully) many alcohol-based marker pieces I'll be selling. Not related to the artwork, but I'm pretty anxious about it all given there hasn't been conventions happening in years and it will likely be fairly jarring.

This macabre 'lil fella was made using the following:

I started this drawing with the intention "skull-backed snail" with the desire to make it reliant on bold colour and packed fine lines in lieu of using black/grey markers to add contrast.
I did indeed forget to take a picture between finishing the colour portions and starting linework.
At this point adding a dark element to the background felt necessary, so this phone-finger-paint-mock-up happened and was deemed "yes".
Start to finish this piece took around six hours.
