Due to this whole fuel “pandemic of the gas virus”, I pulled my old two‑wheeled friend out of the dusty hallway. In short, the universe decided to remind me (and maybe everyone else) what it’s really like to be on the move, and what pedaling actually means. First, I discovered (yes, for the first time in my life!) an electric scooter from Yandex, and then, reluctantly, I switched to a bicycle. What’s the point of all this? It’s just so much fun! The last time I was this excited about riding a bicycle was about ten years ago, maybe even longer. I remembered all the trails in the fields and discovered a couple of new ones. Of course, you won’t be able to go far or fast on it, and maybe you don’t need to yet.
...The post was written for social media about a month ago. And now, about what’s relevant today.
The car was repaired. The tandem pump (something like a fuel injection pump) failed. I drove it for three weeks, and it broke down again — this time it was the generator.
New brakes, new rear hub, 10-speed cassette, switch, chain, handlebar, saddle, handles...
Now this beast has become more solid, more focused, it rides much better, and it brakes superbly. I’ve started riding it more often, just cruising around. I’d forgotten what it’s like to just ride without any thoughts or tasks.
There are also thoughts on further improving the fatbike in the form of a shock-absorbing fork, but this is a different budget...
I remembered the world I was in for many years, when I was passionate about cycling... how much everything has changed now.
Prices for some parts have skyrocketed, while others have become so affordable that it’s just awesome.
