The cellars in Botovo are located on the outskirts of the village, on a small hill relative to the settlement. The dugouts settlement is quite large – there are about a hundred underground vegetable storage facilities, mostly with single‑slope roofs.
The structures are arranged in an orderly manner: in several rows with space for passage between them.
Unfortunately, most of it is in thickets of hogweed and burdock.
But surprisingly, a lot of cellars are still in use, and almost all of them are locked.
There are very few abandoned dugouts, which means that the tradition of storing vegetables in a “pit” is still alive here.
These are the kinds of places I hunt for, these are the places that give me the most excitement.
Due to the recent events in the country and in our region in particular, I don’t really feel like going to a remote area... bears are coming close to villages, and there’s a chance you might not make it back home.
And places like Botovo are safe: there are residential buildings nearby, a road, many villages around, and in general, Cherepovodsk is nearby.
And the sense of safety is the most important factor in creating not only beautiful images but also a strong memory code.
No, of course, meeting a bear would be an unforgettable experience that would stay with you for a lifetime, but those aren’t the emotions and sensations I’m looking for.
