Interesting to see another Star Wars RTS in the works! Don't know how credible Dualshockers when it comes to insider stuff but this would be such a random thing to lie about. Imagine the potential of having Republic, Empire, Rebels and CIS as different factions.
Though honestly what this game really needs is a trailer, so it's not a subject to cancellation.
Maybe I'm setting my expectations too high, but generally, the Total War games do have more than two factions. I'm not concerned about the narrative side of things; as a minimum though, getting the four main factions is fine. Depending on how they do it, they can throw in a Mandalorian Faction, Shadow Collective faction, or even delve into ST or Old Republic.
I really want this game to be a success because I want to enjoy another strategy Star Wars game, sure I can always go back to EAW and Galactic Battlefront but I want something new on my plate.
I've used Dicefront in a few ways, just seems like a nice way of sperating them.
I mean if this game starts as OT only I can see Clone Wars DLC assuming they don't get stopped from making DLC or something...which they shouldn't do.
My prediction for this Total War Star Wars right now is either OT or PT on launch, followed by whatever era/factions didn't make it into the base game. After that, potentially they could introduce ST factions, but I feel like they have fewer units to work with there. I could also see them adding a Shadow Collective faction and possibly a Mandalorian faction.
Really, I just don't want the factions to be locked to one era. I had a lot of fun with Galactic Battlegrounds back in the day with the scenario editor, with Republic vs. Empire stuff and Empire vs. CIS.
