Looks like I'm going to have to go back to my low volume resistance training. I enjoy the pump of the higher volume stuff, and it's good for my mental health. But every time I try to increase my training volume, my body just can't cope with it - damaged nervous system just seems to have a very low threshold for what it can handle. Plus I've got another prednisone decrease tomorrow, so my body is going to be suffering from that, too.
Sometimes it's good to hold back for awhile and give your body time to heal. Muscles get lots of blood and can grow pretty quick, but tendons get much less blood flow and are much slower to strengthen and heal, and ligaments are the most blood deprived and the slowest of all. One of the limiting factors towards strength isn't the muscle, it's the connective tissue and you got to give your body time for it to catch up to your strength so you don't injure yourself.
